JOURNEY STARTER
Build the financial foundation around the business you are creating
Journey Starter builds a useful financial foundation while the business, its history, and its priorities are still taking shape.

It combines a QuickBooks Online structure designed around the business with six months of bookkeeping, reporting, financial review, and refinement—built around how the business works, what you are building toward, and what you want the financial information to make visible.

The business shapes the structure. We use standard accounting structure where it serves the work and preserve additional distinctions—between products, services, customers, or other meaningful parts of the business—only where they help you understand its economics or progress.
Build it while the business is taking shape
An early-stage business does not need every financial system, report, or capability it may eventually use. It needs a foundation appropriate to the business it has now, with enough intention to preserve useful information and enough flexibility to evolve.

As real activity accumulates, we refine what the structure needs to distinguish, what reporting is useful, and what deserves continued attention.
You cannot anticipate every question the business will need to answer later. The objective is not to try. It is to give you a stronger place to begin when the question changes.

By building useful distinctions into the financial foundation early, you have financial history and context already organized when a new opportunity, concern, or change arrives—rather than first having to reconstruct them later.
JOURNEY STARTER
What you gain
At the end of Journey Starter, you will have:
Accurate, current books in QuickBooks Online
A Chart of Accounts designed around how your business operates and what you want to track
Six months of completed bookkeeping and financial reporting
Six months of financial history accumulated within the new structure
A Financial Foundation Guide documenting the structure, reporting logic, key distinctions, and priorities it was designed to support
A clear path for what comes next, whether you continue with Clarity with Harmony or transition the financial work elsewhere
JOURNEY STARTER
What happens
Journey Starter is a six-month engagement that includes:
-
Working directly with Christy throughout the engagement
-
Three structured discovery conversations to understand how the business operates, what you are building toward, and what the financial structure and reporting need to support
-
QuickBooks Online setup or focused cleanup
-
Design and implementation of the Chart of Accounts
-
Six months of monthly bookkeeping and financial reporting
-
Six monthly financial review sessions to review the information and refine the financial structure or reporting as needed
-
Identification of areas outside the financial foundation that may benefit from additional analysis or expertise
-
A final review and next-step recommendation for continuing, expanding, or transitioning the work
When the financial work raises questions beyond the financial foundation, we identify what additional information, analysis, or expertise may be useful. Work beyond the agreed Journey Starter scope is defined separately.
JOURNEY STARTER
Best suited for
Founders establishing their books for the first time or bringing greater intention and structure to an early-stage business,
typically with a focused group of products, services, or clients, manageable financial complexity, and a business model that is still developing.
Â
Journey Starter may be particularly useful when:
-
You are setting up the financial foundation for the first time or improving books that are still relatively simple
-
You already know there are products, services, customers, or other parts of the business you want to track more intentionally
-
The business is still developing and you want the financial structure to evolve with it
-
You want a stronger financial foundation in place before greater complexity, growth, or change arrives
-
You want financial reports and data organized in a way that makes the business easier to explain to potential partners or investors
BASECAMP
Businesses evolve. Products change. Customers change. Teams change. Systems enter the picture. Priorities shift.
The financial structure that once served the organization may no longer reflect how the business operates, what you need to understand, or what you are now trying to build, preserve, change, or make possible. And the books can remain accurate while that happens.
Basecamp rebuilds the financial foundation around the business as it exists today, the direction you are building toward, and what the financial information needs to make visible to support that direction.
Over six months, we redesign the foundation, put it to work through reporting and financial review, and refine the structure as real business activity and the questions in front of you develop. When capable bookkeeping or financial support is already in place, Basecamp can build from that existing capacity.
Rebuild the financial foundation around the business you have now and what comes next
BASECAMP
As organizations change, new systems, reporting, automation, financial support, roles, outside expertise, or operating capacity may become useful. When the need is already clear, a standard solution may be exactly right. Basecamp is most useful when the harder work is first understanding what the direction ahead actually requires.

What is already working remains part of the answer. Additional capacity enters where the direction actually requires it.
Understand what the direction ahead may require
We begin with the business you actually have and the direction or questions you want to explore:
— What has changed?
— What is working?
— What needs to become more visible?
— What existing capacity matters to the direction you are considering?
— What would that direction require?
We begin with the financial foundation because finance is where the whole business leaves a footprint. Revenue, expenses, people, customers, products, investments, systems, and strategic choices all leave financial evidence.

The numbers do not contain every answer, but they can show us where to look. When a question requires a wider view, we connect the financial information to the additional financial or operational information materially relevant to understanding it.

That may clarify what resources and capacity already exist, where constraints matter, which assumptions or relationships deserve closer examination, and what different paths may require. It may confirm that a new system, role, service, process, or professional capability would add value—or show that existing capacity can be preserved or used differently.
That connected understanding gives leadership a stronger basis for evaluating the possibilities and decisions ahead.
Part of the value of Basecamp is understanding what a direction may require before deciding what additional capacity to build, buy, outsource, develop—or whether it is needed yet.

The goal is enough structure and context to create useful visibility without building complexity around questions the organization may never need to answer.

The financial foundation does not need to answer every future question. It needs to make the next important question easier to investigate.

What happens
Basecamp is a six-month engagement that includes:
For established organizations whose business has developed beyond the financial structure currently supporting it, or that are preparing for a more intentional next stage — typically involving greater complexity, growth, change in direction, simplification, or restructuring.

Basecamp may be particularly useful when:
-
The financial reports are accurate but no longer reflect how leadership thinks about the business
-
Products, services, customers, teams, systems, or the business model have changed while the financial structure has remained largely the same
-
Important questions repeatedly require information to be reorganized, recategorized, or reconstructed before they can be answered
-
The organization is preparing for meaningful change and you need a stronger understanding of what the business has to work with and what different paths may require
-
You may need additional financial or operating capacity but do not yet know what form would best support the direction ahead
-
You want reporting and financial data that better reflect the business and support more productive conversations with potential partners or investors
